The register's office holds a lot of responsibility for property owners. As a real estate broker, I can tell people all day long that they'll own a property even if their deed is destroyed but they need more proof. I must say that I asked Cindy several leading questions but if she hadn't of been knowledgable in the work of the office, it would have caused even bigger problems for this property owner.
A client and I just spend almost forty-five minutes on the phone with Cindy Jones in the Macon County Registers Office. It was a great phone call that allowed a new resident of Macon County, Tennessee to understand her property and how Tennessee operates with regards to her Warranty Deed. Not once did Cindy make us feel we were interrupting her normal activities.
DD bought her property and it was listed as 7.4 acres. The deed called out both the acreage and also listed a recorded plat. Bottom line is that Cindy took the time to explain the difference between old deeds, current deeds and how a plat is used as a reference to DD. Only after hearing it from Cindy was DD happy and content.
The register's office has many recorded documents on file. Those documents are very important but even more important is having someone like Cindy that will spend the time explaining them and their importance to those with questions.
